There are two programmes which are offered by STRIDE: a 30-credit Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education (PGDDE), and a 30-credit Master of Arts in Distance Education (MADE).
Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education
It is the first of its kind in the country, and perhaps in the world, designed with the intention of providing the essential know how, skills and professional knowledge appropriate for distance educators. The PGDDE aims at
- promoting awareness about the concept and utility of distance education in the country, and
- developing the much-needed human resources for the existing open universities and distance education centres, and those which may come up in the near future.
PGDDE Programme Structure
PGDDE consists of the following five courses:
ES-311 : Growth and Philosophy of Distance Education
ES-312: Design and Development of Self-Learning Print Materials.
ES-313: Learner Support Services.
ES-314: Management of Distance Education.
ES-318: Communication Technology for Distance Education.
Master of Arts in Distance Education
This programme has been designed to develop human resources in various specialised areas of distance education; and therefore, the inputs made in the programme go beyond those made in the Diploma Programme.
Program Structure
Masters of Arts in Distance Education consists of the following five courses:
ES-315: Research for Distance Education.
ES-316: Curriculum Development for Distance Education.
ES-317: Distance Education: Economic Perspectives.
ES-319: Staff Development in Distance Education.
ES-320: Project Work (leading to a Dissertation).
IGNOU MADE Programme Fee
Indian Students:
PGDDE programme - Rs.900
MADE programme - Rs.1200
Foreign Students:
The fee varies from country to country, as determined at the time of signing the MOU between IGNOU and the country concerned.
IGNOU MADE Eligibility
All those who are graduates are eligible for admission to the PGDDE programme. Only those who have completed DDE or PGDDE programme of IGNOU are eligible for admission to the MADE programme.
When to apply?
IGNOU announces admission for the next academic year in April/May every year. Student Handbook and Prospectus are available at the IGNOU HQs and all its Regional Centres and Study Centres. Student registration is done at all Regional Centres between May and July in India, and through MOUs in the case of foreign students. Both the programmes commence normally in January every year.
