Description
Polish language along with Czech and Slovak belongs to Western Slavonic group of languages. It is spoken by about 50 million people, mainly in Poland but also in parts of USA, France, UK, Germany, Austria etc. The works of such writers and poets as Jan Kochanowski, Adam Mickiewicz, Juliusz Slowacki, Henryk Sienkiewicz, Stanislaw Wyspianski, Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz, Witold Gombrowicz, Czeslaw Milosz, Wislawa Szymborska are well known not only in Poland but also abroad. The library of the Department has many books of important Polish writers which the Polish knowing students can use for their benefit. Polish studies are an important constituent of the Slavonic Studies in the University of Delhi South Campus. The best students are offered scholarships for higher studies in Poland.
Admission Eligibility
For Non-Indian candidates: The eligibility requirements for admission for Non Indian Students is the same as that for Indian students. However, for admission, they should contact Foreign Students Advisor, University of Delhi, Delhi - 110007.
For Indian candidates:The minimum qualification required for Advanced Diploma Course is Senior School Certificate examination + Diploma in Polish. (Candidates who have obtained Diploma or an equivalent one or more years earlier than the year of seeking admission to Advanced Diploma will be required to pass an Admission Test to be conducted by the Department.)
